"A THOUSAND AGES IN THY SIGHT....."

MIL'S PLACE: THE SIX-HUNDREDTH POST
************************************************

"Lord thou hast been our dwelling place  in all
   generations.

Before the mountains were brought forth or
   ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world,
even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

Thou turnest man to destruction, and sayest
   Return, ye children of men

For a thousand ages in thy sight are but as
   yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in
the night.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they
   are as a sleep; in the morning they are like
grass which groweth up.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up ;
   in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

For we are consumed by thy anger, and by thy
   wrath we are troubled.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret
   sins in the light of thy countenance.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath; we
   spend our years as a tale that is told.

The days of our years are threescore and ten, and
   if by reason of strength they be fourscore years,
yet is their strength labour and sorrow, for it is
   soon cut off, and we fly away.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply
our hearts to wisdom.
     ......PSALM 90: 1-12

        "O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST"
              .....Isaac Watts (1674-1748)
              ... .Tune: St. Anne, Wm. Croft

"O God, our help in ages past,
   our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
    and our eternal home.

Under the shadow of thy throne,
   still may we dwell secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
   and our defense is sure.

  Before the hills in order stood,
     or earth received her frame,
  from everlasting, thou art God,
    to endless years the same.

  A thousand ages in thy sight.
     are like an evening gone;
  short as the watch that ends the night,
     before the rising sun.

  Time like an ever rolling stream,
     bears all who breathe away;
   they fly forgotten, as a dream
      dies at the opening day.

   O God, our help in ages past,
       our hope for years to come;
   Be thou our guide while life shall last,
       and our eternal home."

PRAISE BE TO GOD.
