"CHIRP....CHIRP....CHIRP....CHIRP..."

"THIRTY YEARS WITHOUT SLUMBERING...."

IMG_6250.JPG

The old First Alert

 carbon  monoxide meter

was a success.

 you'd have to say

It was certainly unlike

 the storied

grandfather's clock of song,

which "tick-tocked "ninety years without slumbering..."

 The meter stood guard 24/7

through cold winters and heat..

     with nary a PEEP

(nor a CHIRP)

AND THEN   one morning

when there was no gas on

in the whole  house...the doors

 were open  and a  window...

and we were leisurely sipping

 Folger's Best...

Our faithful and true beloved

   meter  left this life...it was

a big surprise after thirty years

 of faithful service...

Ah, but one could almost say

 "It went gentle into that

         good night..."

tho, after years of silence,

 it did want to register

its very existence   at least once

 here in the Cosmos...

In melodic quatrains it began

 to sing and wouldn't stop!

"CHIRP...CHIRP...CHIRP...CHIRP...'

    over and over      and then

a big weaker...

  "chirp...chirp..chirp..chirp..."

             and then it was gone

with simply...

               a WHIMPER.

"O DAY FOR WHICH CREATION...and ALL ITS TRIBES WERE MADE...."

"O DAY FOR WHICH CREATION....and ALL ITS  TRIBES WERE MADE.."

 TEN THOUSAND TIMES

       TEN THOUSAND"

    PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH,  1920

                Taiban, New Mexico

"Ten thousand times ten thousand,

  In sparkling raiment bright

The armies of the ransom'd saints

Throng up the steeps of light.

'Tis ''tis finish'd all ‘‘tis finish’d”

Their fight with death and sin,

Fling open wide the golden gates

 And let the victors in.

What rush of Hallelujahs

Fills all the earth and sky!

What ringing of a thousand harps

  Bespeaks the triumph nigh!

O day for which Creation

And all its tribes were made!

O joy for all its former woes

  A thousand-fold repaid!

O then for rapturous greetings

  On Canaan's happy shore,

Where partings are no more..."

......Hymn by HENRY ALFORD.

      PRAYER for this Lord's Day:

       "O our Great Heavenly Father,

         somehow in Thy deep wisdom

and mercy, help us, Thy believers

still here in this world.. to keep the

      Hate and Evil walking the

        Earth....out of our hearts.

            For Jesus,

               Amen
