THE ROOM

It was the 

    favorite room

of his whole

    life

that bedroom

    at Grandma's

with the sheer

    curtains

which floated in

     spring breezes

the cane-bottom 

          chair

 the painting

       on the wall

 by the window

his uncle's old straw

    boater ever

 on the hat rack

and on three walls
  the tan wallpaper

    covered with

dark green frogs and

    lime-colored

 grasshoppers.
